You've Got That Power

 There have been times I have run across scriptures that leave me speechless.  I would find myself saying, “Really GOD, this is what YOU want me to do?”  Scriptures like: (1)“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good” Rom. 12:21 ;

(2), “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you”  Matt 5:44.

 WHAT????? You want me to love and pray for the people who hate me.  The scripture does not say to love and pray for those who ‘may’ hate you or that you ‘think’ hate you, but those WHO HATE ME, CURSE ME, DESPITEFULLY USE ME, PERSECUTE ME…are you really serious, right now???  It seems like God is signing us up for a life of heartache and pain. I often liken it to me volunteering to stand on the railroad tracks seeing a train coming full speed ahead.
(If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.) Romans 12:18  Hmmm, ‘so far as it depends on me’ seems like GOD is still putting it all on me. Then, GOD made it known to me that the only thing HE was putting on me was the decision to choose HIM.  These things that seem so unfair and impossible for us to do, if we choose Christ, we can do them. (I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.) Philippians 4:13  
 
So, now when I consider myself on that train track with the train coming, I think about my faith, my trust, that ‘as much as it depends on me’ I can make that train stop...because of the ONE who lives within me.    My doing good can rid of evil.  My love can make hate bow. My praying for people can cause a change.  (Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the POWER to become children of God) John 1:12  And GOD said that if you choose Christ…YOU GOT THAT POWER!!!
